Raising Kids the Right Way

In my last post, While we were at Goose Island State Park, I told you about the kids next door throwing gummy worms on our motorhome. A couple of days later there was a knock on the door and there was the Mother of the kids and the 2 kids. Each child a note which they read out loud to me. The notes were an apology for throwing the gummy worms on the motorhome and for feeding the seagulls after they were told not to and did it anyway. Each promised to never do anything like that again. WOW was I surprised! We had already talked the Mother and she was very apologetic, I thought that was the end of it. But when she brought the children over with a verbal and written apology I was very impressed. Now that’s the way children should be raised… I wish there were more Mothers like that! The world wouldn’t be in the mess it’s in if there were more well-behaved kids and caring parents…

We had a great time with Tammy and Chuck at Goose Island State Park. We did get to do a little fishing but the wind was brutal… And wouldn’t you know it, the day we left the water was calm and winds had laid down. Shaking my head, oh well that’s just how it goes sometimes. Thank goodness we had company to visit with and of course to go to the Walmart in Rockport. Since we couldn’t fish because of the wind we drove over to Port Aransas and took the ferry across to Mustang Island State Park. We drove around town then went out to the park where the campsites were.

We had heard there was an old tree close to the park so we had to check it out… It’s a must-see if you’re ever in the area. The Oak Tree is over a thousand years old, yes I said over 1,000 years old! They have some of the branches propped up with some kind of lumber and some of the branches are held up with cables. It is something to see…

Tammy and Chuck at the BIG Tree

We always have a great time together, I just love Tammy like a sister. In fact, I see her more than I see my own sisters. We’ll be meeting up with them at Wolf Creek Park a TRA park in Texas on Lake Livingston Aug 1st for a week.

She and Chuck either fly or drive up to where ever we are at least once a year. This year in Nov they are driving up to Gatlinburg TN to spend Thanksgiving with us.

On Monday 6/19/2017 we started back to Thousand Trails Colorado River in Columbus and I heard 2 of my sisters and family were at Matagorda Bay Nature and RV Park and it was right on the way, well sorta… So we decided to just surprise them and show up. We stayed there a couple of nights and got in some good visit time.

Here’s a great TIP of the day …

No more pesky bugs with this great Bug Zapper

and Keep bugs away from your picnic table while you’re trying to eat with these Citro Candles

Until next time, Safe Travels and Happy Trails…
